Ever since Baby C turned 1 on New Year's Day, he has been dealing with constipation. It all started when we switched him from formula to whole milk. My poor baby would be straining and crying while trying to poop. We tried giving him high fiber foods, such as prunes, pears and peaches, as well as add more water to his diet. Then we added Benefiber to his milk. We even diluted his milk with water, thinking that his body wasn't able to digest the cow's milk. Baby C continued to struggle with pooping, and it just broke my heart to see him so unhappy. We ended up having to use glycerin suppositories to make his poop come out, which were hard. I then started Activia yogurt to hopefully get his digestive system moving along, but it didn't help.
So this weekend, after 3 difficult weeks with constipation, I stopped cow's milk altogether, and restarted formula again. I am hoping to get his bowel movements on track again, and then reintroduce cow's milk or even soy milk slowly. We'll see how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
