Baby C turns 9 months old today. He has grown so much this past month. It surprises me how much he learns each week. He is such a happy boy...always smiling and clapping for us. He also now raises both of his hands in the air when we say "Banzai!" He is army crawling forwards now, so he is all over the place. We have these plastic cups in different colors and sizes which we lay all over the floor, and he loves to crawl for them. He can also go from a lying down position to a sitting position. Whenever he does this, he feels so accomplished because he'll start clapping. It just makes me laugh. We're also noticing that he likes to cruise. I can maybe see him walking in the near future. Now, we definitely need to start babyproofing the house.
Although it's a big day for Baby C today, he, unfortunately, caught a pretty bad cold. This is the first time he has ever been sick. Thursday, it started with a runny nose and sneezing. Then Friday night, he started coughing and had a slight fever. I gave him some acetaminophen, and he fell asleep in the upright position. Today, we've been home with him all day. His fever got worse last night, so I stayed up all night watching over him and applied cold towels to his head. He was sweating so much. Then, this morning, he started wheezing, so I was really concerned. I debated on whether to take him to the doctor right away, but he was in such happy spirits (smiling and clapping). So I decided to just make him comfortable. The wheezing worried me a lot since both D and I have a history of asthma. However, he seems to be fine with taking his naps and does not seem uncomfortable at all. Baby C actually wants to play and crawl around, but we didn't want his wheezing to get worse, so we kept him quiet all day. We watched a few episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba (their music is pretty catchy). I also used the NoseFrida Nasal Aspirator many times today, which helped clear out all the mucus. It is such a useful tool....sounds gross and he cries every time I use it, but it feels good to get rid of the mucus. Hopefully, he gets better tomorrow. If not, then I'm definitely taking him to the doctor on Monday. Luckily, we already have his 9-month well check on Friday.
